How long have you been employed with GSM Industrial?

15 Years

What is your job and what does it entail?

My job title is Fitter/Welder.  My duties include light fabrication, fit-up of parts, welding assemblies, mechanical assembly, rigging, and operating lift trucks and overhead cranes.

How would you describe the team/work culture at GSM Industrial?

GSM Industrial is a place where anyone who is self-motivated can grow their skills and knowledge. It is a family-oriented company where workers are treated with respect. One of the biggest benefits to many is flexible scheduling. Many GSM employees, like myself, have been with the company for over 15 years.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I would like to get into quality control. I enjoy working on the plant floor and helping others learn new skills. Since this would be more than a desk job, it would be enjoyable for me.

What is the most exciting thing you are currently working on?

I’m working on a stainless water treatment tank with a water jacket that gets pressure tested. I like the challenge of trying to weld one without any leaks.

What motivates you to wake up and go to work?

Probably my desire to be self sufficient, provide for my family and have nice hobbies.

What is something most people do not know about you?

I have an amateur radio license. AKA HAM radio.

What music is on your playlist?

I like It loud, heavy, and fast. Right now I’m listening to Twelve Foot Ninja and Black Label Society.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would it be and why?

I would want to meet Dick Winters. He is known most from HBO’s Band of Brothers. He had an amazing story and he lived in Hershey.

How would you explain your job to a class of kindergartners?

I glue metal together with fire.
